Is anyone else more effected emotionally by fiction than by real life?

I bawl my eyes out at cheesy sad movies, but don't cry when I hear about tragedies like 9/11, Katrina or the wars in the Middle East, I didn't cry at my grandma's funeral, but I cried watching Deep Impact.
