Is it possible for my cat to ever be okay?

my 9 year old cat has Pancreatitis (i dont think i spelt that correctly), they want to put him to sleep because he isnt really eating and its not getting better. They've been giving him nutrition through IV as well as pain medicine and antibiotics. Is there anything else that can be done? Surgery? Anything would really help. Is it possible for a cat to live without his pancreas? Thanks in advance...
